Ayurvedic Health Counseling
Ayurvedic guidance for the body, mind, and spirit. In Ojai or remotely.
Your digestion may change around the same time your sleep becomes lighter or your energy less dependable. Perhaps you feel more easily overwhelmed, or a routine that once helped you isn’t helping in the same way. These details matter in Ayurveda. They help us understand how your constitution, daily life, and current circumstances are meeting one another.
Ayurvedic health counseling offers time to look at the whole picture. We begin with your main concerns, then consider digestion, elimination, sleep, energy, emotional wellbeing, health history, and the season you’re in. Together, we look at where imbalance has taken hold and what may help you move toward a healthier state.
Not sure whether this is where you should start? A 15–20 minute discovery call is $30, credited toward your initial consultation if you decide to move forward.
An Ayurvedic View of Your Health
Ayurveda is a healing science from India with a history spanning more than 5,000 years. It understands health through the relationship between body, mind, senses, spirit, and the world around us. Care begins with the individual: your prakruti, or natural constitution, and your vikruti, what is out of balance now. Prakruti gives us a guiding reference for your care, while vikruti shows us what needs attention today.
Ayurveda teaches that all disease begins in the gut. That’s why one of the first things we consider is agni—your capacity to digest and transform food and experience. Appetite, digestion, elimination, and energy offer clues about how agni is functioning. When digestion is incomplete, ama can accumulate. Ayurveda describes it as a heavy, sticky residue that obstructs the srotas, the channels through which nourishment and waste move. Over time, that obstruction can contribute to imbalance and disease.
Clearing and Rebuilding
Care does not always begin with clearing. At times, the first steps are dipana and pachana: supporting agni and helping the body process what has accumulated. At other times, brimhana—nourishment and rebuilding—is the greater need. Many people need both, in the right order and at the right pace. As digestion is supported and ama is addressed where present, care can turn toward nourishing the dhatus, the body’s tissues, and rebuilding strength.
Your recommendations may include food, daily and seasonal rhythms, herbs, breath practices, and Ayurvedic therapies when appropriate. Each recommendation has a purpose, and the plan changes as you do.
The Work Between Visits
You may already know that you need to eat differently, rest more, or change the pace of your days. Knowing that and figuring out how to do it are different things. Counseling helps you find a place to start and keep adjusting as you learn what works for your body.
This takes time and your participation. Herbs can be helpful, but they aren’t meant to carry the whole plan. The changes that last usually come from returning to everyday practices, noticing how you feel, and making room for them in your life.
Care Through Life Stages
This care can be especially helpful during preconception, postpartum recovery, perimenopause, menopause, motherhood, and years of caring for others. Your recommendations reflect your constitution, your strength, and what your body needs during this stage of life.
How It Works
1 | Your Initial Consultation
You’ll complete an in-depth intake before we meet. During our 60-minute consultation, we’ll talk through your concerns and decide where to begin. You’ll receive a written recap with recommendations, plus a 30-minute follow-up within two weeks to answer questions and make adjustments.
Meet in person in Ojai or remotely.
2 | Ongoing Care
After the included follow-up, we generally meet every 4–6 weeks while we’re actively working on your concerns. We’ll talk about what you’ve noticed and change your food, routines, or herbs when needed. Herbs are checked regularly; they aren’t something you simply stay on without revisiting why you’re taking them.
Once you’re feeling steadier, we can move to quarterly or seasonal check-ins. Our needs change with the weather, our age, and what life is asking of us. Ayurveda helps us notice those changes and respond. A seasonal cleanse may be useful at some point; at other times, the work is to keep nourishing and rebuilding.

Common Questions
What is Ayurvedic health counseling?
1
It’s ongoing, personalized guidance using Ayurveda to understand your constitution, current imbalances, digestion, and daily life. Food, routines, herbs, and other practices are considered as appropriate, with follow-ups to adjust your care.
Can we meet remotely?
2
Yes. We can meet in Ojai or remotely. An online Ayurvedic consultation follows the same intake, conversation, and follow-up process.
How often will we meet?
3
After your initial consultation and included follow-up, we generally meet every 4–6 weeks while working on your concerns. Later, visits can shift to quarterly or seasonal check-ins.
Will I need herbs?
4
Not necessarily. If herbs are part of your plan, we’ll check how they’re working and change or stop them as your needs change.
Do I need to know anything about Ayurveda?
5
No. We’ll begin with what’s going on for you, and I’ll explain the Ayurvedic ideas we use along the way.
How is this different from a seasonal cleanse?
6
Counseling supports changes in everyday life over time. A seasonal cleanse is a more focused period of care. Counseling can help us decide whether a cleanse is appropriate, prepare for it, and support you afterward.
Can Ayurvedic health counseling work alongside medical care?
7
Yes. Counseling can sit alongside care from your medical providers. It doesn’t replace medical diagnosis or treatment.
